Highest Grossing Horror Movies of 2017
2017 is not over yet, so this list could change, but I thought it was a good time to bring this out with Halloween just around the corner. Who doesn’t enjoy a good horror to get into the Halloween spirit. So this is a list of the highest grossing horror movies of 2017 so far.
#10 The Belko Experiment $11.1 million
The Belko Experiment is an American horror film directed by Greg McLean and written by James Gunn. An ordinary day at the office becomes a horrific quest for survival when 80 employees (John Gallagher Jr., Tony Goldwyn, Adria Arjona) at the Belko Corp. in Bogotá, Colombia, learn that they are pawns in a deadly game. The movie had a budget of 5 million and gets a 6.1 on IMDB.
#9 It Comes at Night $17.3 million
After a mysterious apocalypse leaves the world with few survivors, two families are forced to share a home in an uneasy alliance to keep the outside evil at bay — only to learn that the true horror may come from within. The budget to make this movie was 2.4 million and it get a 6.3 on IMDB.
#8 Wish Upon $20.7 million
Jonathan Shannon (Ryan Phillippe) gives his 17-year-old daughter Clare (Joey King) an old music box that promises to grant its owner seven wishes. Skeptical at first, Clare becomes seduced by its dark powers when her life starts to radically improve with each wish. Everything seems perfect until she realizes that every wish she makes causes the people who are closest to her to die in violent and elaborate ways. This movie had a budget of 12 million and gets a 4.9 on IMDB
#5 47 Meters Down 53.9 million
Young sisters Kate and Lisa and travel to Mexico for a vacation filled with sun, fun and adventure. Lisa needs some extra persuasion when Kate suggests that they go diving in shark-infested waters. Safe in their protective cage, the thrill-seeking siblings come face to face with a group of majestic great whites. Their worst fears soon become a reality when the cage breaks away from their boat, sending them plummeting to the ocean floor with a dwindling supply of oxygen. The movie had a budget of 5.5 million and gets a 5.7 on IMDB.

A young woman (Matilda Lutz) becomes worried about her boyfriend (Alex Roe) when he explores a dark subculture surrounding a mysterious videotape said to kill the watcher seven days after he has viewed it. She sacrifices herself to save her boyfriend and in doing so makes a horrifying discovery: there is a movie within the movie that no one has ever seen before. This movie had a budget of $25 million and gets a 4.5 on IMDB.
